Longhill Burn

On 15th July 2017

for The Land of Green Ginger, Hull City of Culture 2017.

One of a series of “acts of wanton wonder” cropping up across Hull this year.  These unusual events were  being scrutinised by a team of local investigators, The Green Ginger Fellowship. Throughout the week, a sizeable  bonfire took shape on the Longhill Estate playing field: tea was brewed from the Samovar around and about the estate on the green open spaces. There was a collection into a crate of “What gives you hope”. On the night the crate was processed on a litter across the field accompanied by music and oration. The raising of the crate, to the s rhythm of a heart beat clapped by the entire audience, ignited the the heart if the fire with a pyrotechnic celebration.
